Welcome to the KDA Family!

Thank you for choosing Kibler Dance Academy for your dance training and welcome to our KDA family!

We have prepared this handbook with all the information on our studio in hopes that it makes your time here as convenient, easy and – most of all – FUN as possible. Bookmarking this page on your device will keep it handy for any questions you may have throughout the year. As always, we are also happy to answer your questions in person, via email or over the phone.

September 3, 2019 – May 30, 2020: Regular Season
June – August 2020: Summer Camps and Team Summer Intensive

Holidays

KDA will be closed throughout the year in celebration of holidays and school breaks.
October 31, 2019 – Halloween
November 27-30, 2019 – Thanksgiving Break
December 23 – January 4, 2020 – Winter Break
March 23-28, 2020 – Spring Break
May 25, 2020 – Memorial Day

Class Attendance

To reach full potential in class, a student must attend on a consistent basis. We expect regular attendance from all of our students at Kibler Dance Academy. Please make sure your child arrives approximately 10 minutes prior to their scheduled class time to ensure preparation for class. Any student arriving 15 minutes after the class has started will not be permitted to participate in that class. If as student must miss a class, please notify the Academy. Poor class attendance may result in dismissal from performances at the discretion of the instructor. There are no credits or refunds for classes missed.

Class Cancellations

KDA will cancel morning and afternoon classes if Hudson City Schools cancel due to weather. Evening classes will meet on snow days with the exception of extreme conditions. If cancellation is necessary, a message will be left on the Academy answering machine, Facebook, Twitter or an email will be sent. Evening cancellations will by 2pm. Saturday morning cancellations will be made by 8:30am. Tuition will not be prorated for weather related cancellations.

Cancellation Fees

All class fees are non-refundable. This includes tuition during the regular season and summer camp/summer class fees. Class tuition is charged on a monthly basis and will not be refunded due to cancellation of class. Should you choose to cancel your monthly tuition, our office must be notified via email to jennifer@kiblerdance.com prior to the 1st of the month. 
 
All cancellations/account freezes due to illness/injury will be handled accordingly. Please contact Jennifer Kibler at jennifer@kiblerdance.com. 
 

Class Withdrawal

If a student must withdraw from classes, please notify the Academy in writing immediately as you will be charged for classes until that time.

Class Placement

The instructors at Kibler Dance Academy will place students in classes most suitable for him/her. We strive to provide the best learning environment for each individual’s needs. Students are placed according to their current stage of ability, physical and emotional development, and age.

Class Conduct

Kibler Dance Academy reserves the right to dismiss a student for insubordination, missing scheduled rehearsals, being constantly late to class, or late with payments. Instructors may take students out of class if they are not properly dressed, hair is not properly done or are being disruptive in class.

Student Drop Off/Pick Up

For the safety of the dancers, parents/guardians must come into the studio to drop off and pick up before and after each class. No student is permitted to wait outside for a ride. Our front desk staff will not be responsible for dancers waiting outside of the studio. 

Parents are welcomed to wait in the main lobby during class. The lobby near the lockers is reserved for dancers’ breaks. All siblings waiting in the lobby with parents are asked to remain calm and quiet to not distract the ongoing classes.

• Hair must be pulled back, away from the face and secured in a ponytail, bun, etc.
• Any jewelry or extra accessories should be left at home and are not permitted in class.
• Please put your child’s name on all articles of clothing.
• Ballet skirts and leg warmers are permitted in Ballet, Lyrical Pre-Ballet and Combination classes.
• Kibler Dance Academy is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.

Class Shoe List

• Each child must have his/her dance shoes 1 month from day of enrollment.
• Dance shoes should not be worn outside and street shoes are not to be worn on the studio floors.
• Please put your child’s name on all shoes.

• Tuition is paid in nine equal installments throughout the year (September-May).
• All accounts must have a credit/debit card on file.
• Credit/debit cards will be charged on or about the 7th of the month.
• If you still wish to pay by cash or check, please make a payment by the 5th of the month.
• Multi-Student and Multi-Class Discounts available.
• Tuition will not be prorated for Holidays/Breaks.
